A.J.P. Taylor was an English historian and writer. He was known for his controversial and iconoclastic views on international history and especially for his revisionist views on the origins of the Second World War. He was also an outspoken supporter of socialist causes. He wrote extensively on 19th and 20th century European history, including books on Napoleon, the Habsburgs, Germany and World War One. He was noted for his accessible style of writing that made his works popular among both specialists and the general public.
