Aaron Klug

Aaron Klug (1926- ) is an Israeli-British biophysicist and biochemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1982 for his work in developing physical methods to study the structure of large molecules. He was known for his study of proteins and particularly for his development of crystallographic electron microscopy, which allowed scientists to determine the shapes of large molecules. He also contributed to the understanding of the structure and function of viruses, particularly in the development of a method for the preparation of their individual components. He has held academic positions at universities in Britain and Cambridge and is a fellow of numerous societies and organizations.
