Al Capp Quotes

Al Capp

Al Capp (1909–1979) was an American cartoonist and satirist best known for his comic strip Li'l Abner. He developed more than 300 characters and had a distinct, dynamic art style. His strip was caricatured to comment on American politics and pop culture during the 1930s to the 1970s. Capp was a pioneer in the comic strip industry, helping to shape the syndication business and was the first to introduce a comic strip bonus page, "Sadie Hawkins Day", in 1937. He was also active in social causes, notably the African American civil rights movement. Capp also wrote books and occasionally appeared in television, radio, and film.
