Alexandra Ripley

Alexandra Ripley (1934-2004) was an American author best known for her historical novel Scarlett, the sequel to Margaret Mitchell's classic, Gone with the Wind. Ripley wrote six novels, including a sequel to Gone with the Wind, two New York Times bestsellers, and several works of nonfiction. She was an active member of the International Women Writers Guild and the American Pen Women. Although her works were mainly romance novels, Ripley was celebrated for her knowledge of the Antebellum South and its culture. She wrote numerous articles and contributed a regular column to The State newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina.
