Allen Weinstein

Allen Weinstein was an American author, historian, and professor of history at Washington University in St. Louis. He is most famous for his groundbreaking work on the 1943 Tehran Conference, which was crucial for fostering Allied unity during World War II. Weinstein also served as the ninth Archivist of the United States from 2005 until 2008. He was instrumental in the archivist's office's efforts to digitize many important documents related to the nation's history, most notably the Declaration of Independence. He contributed to hundreds of different books and served on committees for various organizations, such as the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and the National History Day competition. In 2008, he received the Charles Frankel Prize for outstanding contributions to the humanities. Weinstein passed away in 2015.
