This area is very sensitive to me. The city is trying to hold on to 00,000 for Streetscape, but returned nearly 00,000 in grant money earmarked (for the Hugh Cale project) designed to help low-income residents. You do the math. When Streetscape is more important than children, senior citizens and struggling families, we have a problem.
Whatever the whole council comes up with that is best for the people is what we have to come up with. But I'm not going to deviate by reducing the quality of life for children and people struggling to make ends meet. We need to make sure we vote right the first time so the mayor doesn't have to break the tie.
The definitive study of the herd instincts of astronomers has yet to be written, Fernie said, but there are times when we resemble nothing so much as a herd of antelope, heads down in tight formation, thundering with firm determination in a particular direction across the plain. At a given signal from the leader we whirl about, and, with equally firm determination, thunder off in quite a different direction, still in tight parallel formation.(quoting an observation made by astronomer J. Donal Fernie)
