I don't think either the Offspring or Green Day started their bands with the intention of becoming so enormously popular; that sort of fell in their laps-especially the Offspring. My attitude is if somebody blunders into the level of popularity, at least remember the human factor. These guys are still human beings and hopefully still have hearts and if you keep in touch with them rather than vilify them you may be able to encourage them to go in the right direction. What I'm hoping will eventually happen is that they will grasp the amount of power and financial clout that is now at their fingertips and use those as tools to help real people with real things the way punk politics was always designed to do before, but nobody had any money.

Since I'm only 24 years old, guess I have as good an insight into this rising generation as any other young man my age.<br/>And I've discovered that most young men do not stand like ramrods or talk like Demosthenes. Therefore, when I do play a youth, such as in Warner Bros. Rebel Without A Cause, I try to imitate life. The picture deals with the problems of modern youth. It is the romanticized conception of the juvenile that causes much of our trouble with misguided youth nowadays. I think the one thing this picture shows that's new is the psychological disproportion of the kids' demands on the parents. Parents are often at fault, but the kids have some work to do, too. But you can't show some far off idyllic conception of behavior if you want the kids to come and see the picture. You've got to show what it's really like, and try to reach them on their own grounds. You know, a lot of times an older boy, one of the fellows the young ones idolize, can go back to the high school kids and tell them, Look what happened to me! Why be a punk and get in trouble with the law? Why do these senseless things just for a thrill? I hope Rebel Without A Cause will do something like that. I hope it will remind them that other people have feelings. Perhaps they will say, What do we need all that for? If a picture is psychologically motivated, if there is truth in the relationship in it, then I think that picture will do good.

Punk rock seems like my childhood, the glorious, very exciting naivete of rock n' roll. Stenguns and guitars seem very idealistic when you're twenty.

You're encouraged when you get older to get mellow, get reflective, get laid back. I don't understand why. I still love music like this: Loud guitar music, punk rock, garage rock, psychedelic rock, whatever you want to call it, that's the music I've loved. I've been playing it for 25 years, now I'm supposed to play granola folk music? That doesn't make sense to me.

Tony Hawk games are known for having incredible soundtracks that match the look and feel of the game play,.. Tony Hawk's American Wasteland pays homage to the roots of skateboarding and the music on the CD does the same with the assembly of some of the best new bands of today giving us their take on punk classics.

We're a punk band, not so much from a sound perspective, but I still feel like we maintain a punk approach to what we do. But (punk) is not the most accepting community, it's really rather conservative. So we felt like we had to go against that.

I think our politics are extremely punk. The world that we operate in is still unfortunately more corporate. We can be queer and political but we're still part of the system.

It was a very mixed-up crowd. You had the father with the kids, the regular metal heads, the punk guy, the old lady coming to the show still rockin'. We noticed in America, the rock-metal population is very wide. It's not only 16-year-old metal guys.

Punk is not just the sound, the music. Punk is a life-style. There are a lot of bands around who claim to be punk and they only play the music, they have no clue what it's all about. It's a life-style I chose for myself.

Maybe if I get off the road and stop playing with punk rock bands, there'll be a lot more records. It would probably involve me getting out of the conventional music business as we know it and heading more towards a self-sufficient, self-structured release-type thing. I wouldn't expect a regular label to keep up with the amount of stuff that I've got, or the amount of stuff I would have if I could just sit in a room and just write music.

Scott was punk rock and basically we were just worried about his health. We got kind of midway through the drums and he started having really bad headaches and he knew,.. He knew he was sicker than he let us know - which I'm glad he did because if we had known how sick he was we would have sent him home.
