Adrienne Clarkson
Adrienne Clarkson is a Canadian journalist, author, and former Governor General of Canada, serving from 1999 to 2005. She is best known for her work as a public broadcaster during her decades as a prominent media figure. She was the first immigrant to serve in the role of Governor General, having been born in Hong Kong to parents who had fled mainland China. She is also the co-founder of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship which works to promote Canadian values and provide more accessibility to citizenship and civic engagement for immigrants. Clarkson was named a Companion of the Order of Canada in 2010 for her humanitarian work.
