Albert Speer was a German architect and member of the Nazi party who served as Adolf Hitler’s Minister of Armaments and War Production from 1942 until 1945. As a Nazi, he was instrumental in planning the construction of projects related to the project of Hitler’s “Thousand-Year Reich.” As a Nazi figure, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 1946 at the Nuremberg Trials. After being released in 1966, he wrote two books, Inside the Third Reich and Spandau: The Secret Diaries. He argued that he was unaware of the crimes of the Nazi party and distance himself from their deeds.
