Andrew Wiles
Andrew Wiles is a British mathematician who is best known for proving Fermat's Last Theorem, a theorem in mathematics that had been unsolved for 358 years. Wiles spent seven years of his life in solitude proving the theorem, which had previously been thought impossible to solve. He received several awards in recognition of his work, such as the prestigious Fields Medal, the Shaw Prize and the Wolf Prize. Additionally, he was knighted. Wiles also received honorary degrees from several universities across the world, including Harvard, Oxford and the École Normale Supérieure.
