I want to explore all kinds of music, not get stuck in one groove. It's just my nature.

I don't get much downtime, that's for sure. We generally make three separate tours of Europe each year alone. Then there's Asia and other foreign countries as well as plenty of gigs in the U.S. My son books all my dates and he does a wonderful job, so I can't complain about my schedule.

There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

I can tell you that it's just a sad day, a sad day for the Latin music industry,.. Tito was known all over the world.

Same, just the same. Nine pieces ---- a trumpet, two trombones, reed, congas, drums, piano and vocalist. That's what a Latin jazz orchestra should be.

We'll be playing nothing but dance music and after you hear what we play, it's so danceable, you can't sit still. That the way it works wherever we go.
