Al Lopez
Al Lopez was a Major League Baseball player and manager born in 1912. He played catcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Braves, and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1928 to 1947. He also managed the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, and Tampa Bay Rays from 1951 to 1991, helping the White Sox win the 1959 World Series. He held several managerial records and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977 for both his playing and managerial careers. In addition, Lopez was a pioneering Latino baseball player and manager, leading the way for future generations of Hispanic players to make their mark in the game.
