Al Roker is an American television personality, actor and weatherman. He is best known for his 30-year career as weather anchor on the NBC's "Today" show. Born on August 20, 1954, in Queens, New York, Roker proceeded to the State University of New York at Oswego before joining meteorology program at the Free University of Berlin in Germany. After coming back to the United States, he began his television career with 'WTVH TV' in Syracuse, New York in 1974. In 1983, he joined NBC network's "Today," thereby becoming the show's weatherman and ultimately the entertainment host. Al Roker also became the meteorologist of NBC's "Weekend Today" in 1989 while appearing on other NBC Entertainment shows as a guest. Roker also penned several New York Times bestsellers and has his own cooking show. He won a Daytime Emmy award in 2010 for his work on the "Today" show.
