Alberto Sordi was an Italian actor and film director best known for his comedy films and performances from the 1940s until the 1990s. He was one of the most iconic figures in Italian cinema and is considered one of the three most popular actors in Italy following World War II, along with Vittorio De Sica and Marcello Mastroianni. Sordi's films focus on topics such as religion, family, marriage, and social customs that are still relevant today. He gained international recognition for his roles in films including Il vedovo (1959), The Amnesiac (1965), and the Oscar-nominated I Compagni (1963). He was also known for delivering masterful performances in serious films, such as The Devil in the Convent (1971).
