Alvin Dark

Alvin Dark was an American professional baseball player, manager, and scout. He was an infielder who played for four National League teams from 1946 to 1960, primarily the New York Giants and Milwaukee Braves. Following his playing career, Dark managed the San Francisco Giants and the Chicago Cubs, before becoming a scout in the NL. Dark was an All-Star in 1951 and 1953 and won the NL's 1948 home run title with a league-leading 22 homers. He finished his Major League career with a .289 batting average and 1,106 runs batted in, and ranks 5th all-time on the Giants' games played list. He led the NL in singles four times, and led the Giants to their last World Series title in 1954. Dark was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
