Joe West
The rule states that he has to stay in that running lane during the last half of the distance, which he was not. So whether the ball hit him or not, he interfered with Erstad trying to catch the ball.

Whether the ball hit him or not, he interfered with Erstad trying to catch the ball,.. I don't think they can see that from the dugout. In fact, I think the only people who can see it are us standing on the line and the first baseman trying to catch the ball. So when I told (Joe Torre) what happened, he was upset, naturally, because it took them out of the inning, but he didn't argue the rule.

We played as a team. It was all about hard work.

All the work, the sweat and hard practices, this makes it worth it now. I'm looking forward to playing.

You get to play in a college coliseum and it's like the next level. When we came here, we went to work and it was eat, drink and sleep basketball. The practices were an awful lot of hard work, but it was all worth it. We've been up and down the court since we got here.
