Alan Bullock
Sir Alan Bullock was a British historian and author, known for his much-acclaimed biographies of Adolf Hitler and Benjamin Disraeli. He studied at Oxford University and later taught history at the University of Oxford, becoming Vice-Chancellor of the university in 1949. He was made a Fellow of the British Academy in 1958 and was Knighted in 1972. Bullock wrote several books, including biographies of Lord Beaverbrook, Stalin, and Karl Marx, as well as a history of 19th century Britain and an autobiography. His two most famous works, Hitler: A Study in Tyranny and The Life and Times of Benjamin Disraeli, became best-sellers when first published in the 1950s and 1960s. Bullock died in 2004.
