Alan Grayson
Alan Grayson is an American politician who has served as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 9th congressional district from 2009 to 2011, and 2013 to 2017. Grayson was formerly a civil rights attorney and an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida. He gained national attention for his outspokenness during his time in Congress, as well as for his passionate defense of liberal causes. He was known for his fiery rhetoric and often called media attention to issues he felt needed to be addressed. He vocally opposed the Iraq war, advocated for health care reform, and pushed for ethical reforms in Congress. He was also a major supporter of the Occupy Wall Street movement. In 2015, Grayson ran a failed bid for the U.S. Senate but was defeated by current Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
