Alison Lurie

Alison Lurie is an American novelist and academic. She is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer who is best known for her bestselling novel The War Between the Tates (1984). She has been awarded numerous prestigious honors, including the Pulitzer Prize in 1985, the Edward Lewis Wallant Award in 1986 and the Cardozo Award for Literature in 1990. Her other notable works include Foreign Affairs (1984), Imaginary Friends (1989) and Don't Tell Everything (1999). She has also written several non-fiction books, including The Language of Clothes (1981) and The Language of Homes (1996). Lurie was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1926 and has taught at Cornell University, where she has held the esteemed Class of 1916 Professorship.
