Federal and provincial programs that benefit the city of Ottawa are financed by hard working, tax paying Canadians. Those tax dollars shouldn't be spent to support workers in other countries, when there are Canadians that can do the work.

Even if the rail cars made by Siemens are slightly cheaper, it's a false economy that benefits no Canadian. It's vitally important to not only maintain high technology jobs in Canada, we also need to further develop our high technology industries whenever possible.

It's ironic that these rail cars could be assembled in the United States where a law exists that requires American content when U.S. Federal tax dollars are used in a transit project.
