The people who are setting the foundation are the mothers and fathers. I think we are just giving students recognition for the good habits that parents are instilling in them. We can't wake up 900 students and make sure they always go to school. That's up to parents.

One day, bosses are going to depend on these students to show up on time for work. They'll be expected to be responsible and dependable. We preached this at the (last) breakfast and talked about how good attendance can affect your future career.

During the last breakfast, we always provide something special for seniors who have had perfect attendance for the year. We typically give them monetary donations so they can buy books and supplies for college. Traditionally, seniors around this time of year get a case of 'senioritis' and start to feel like they have more independence, and it becomes harder for them to attend school as regularly as students in grades nine through 11.
