The Student Christian Fellowship is just one more religiously affiliated option for students who want to feel accepted on a UCC campus. Many people don't know it, but we are an open and affirming group.

It started out as a group of about seven of us. This semester I think we're up to about 30. For me, it's a chance to fellowship with my friends since it's something we've all got in common. It's also fun because it doesn't really matter how many times you win or lose, there's always something fun going on during the game.

Evangelicals, through their own scholarship as well as the support and encouragement of such bodies as Tyndale Fellowship, the John Wesley Fellowship and, to a lesser extent, the Institute for Biblical Research, have been able to secure positions in academic institutions beyond those traditionally regarded as evangelical. This includes folks teaching at major public and private universities.

You don't have to have a terrific voice or know how to read music. The only requirement is that you enjoy singing, fun and fellowship. And, this is a great hobby for fathers and sons to share.

It's a time of fun, fellowship and Bible study. It's athletes meeting together and sharing faith with other athletes on campus. There are guest speakers and there is usually a spiritual message.

We all claim to worship the same God, so why don't we fellowship together?.. The only thing that keeps us from fellowshiping together are the church buildings, the organizations.

I think this is a wonderful, wonderful addition to the parish. I think that the fellowship that we will have here will continue to build a strong community. This is a symbol of the growth here and it builds on all of the traditions.

Fellowship is a place of grace, where mistakes aren't rubbed in but rubbed out. Fellowship happens when mercy wins over justice.

The mission of Jesus brought not a new teaching but a new event. It brought to people an actual foretaste of the eschatological salvation. Jesus did not promise the forgiveness of sins; he bestowed it. He did not simple assure people of the future fellowship of the Kingdom; he invited them into fellowship with himself as the bearer of the Kingdom. He did not merely promise them vindication in the day of judgment; he bestowed upon them the status of a present righteousness. He not only taught an eschatological deliverance from physical evil; he went about demonstrating the redeeming power of the Kingdom, delivering people from sickness and even death.

The miracles of healing, important as they were, were not an end in themselves. They did not constitute the highest good of the messianic salvation. This fact is illustrated by the arrangement of the phrases in Matthew 11: 4-5. Greater than deliverance of the blind and the lame, the lepers and the deaf, even than raising of the dead, was the preaching of the good news to the poor. This gospel was the very presence of Jesus himself, and the joy and fellowship that he brought to the poor.

We are mortals all, human and nonhuman, bound in one fellowship of love and travail. No one escapes the fate of death. But we can, with caring, make our good-byes less tormented. If we broaden the circle of our compassion, life can be less cruel.

It was as if we'd only been gone the weekend. Or had we been gone a lifetime. Part of that was because when you've lived in Alaska, living in other places seems easier, less challenging, less threatening. Alaska had enlarged each of us. No one is ever the same after coming back from Alaska.

In the Christian community thankfulness is just what it is anywhere else in the Christian life. Only he who gives thanks for little things receives the big things. We prevent God from giving us the great spiritual gifts He has in store for us, because we do not give thanks for daily gifts. We think we dare not be satisfied with the small measure of spiritual knowledge, experience, and love that has been given to us, and that we must constantly be looking forward eagerly for the highest good. Then we deplore the fact that we lack the deep certainty, the strong faith, and the rich experience that God has given to others, and we consider this lament to be pious. We pray for the big things and forget to give thanks for the ordinary, small (and yet really not small) gifts. How can God entrust great things to one who will not thankfully receive from Him the little things? If we do not give thanks daily for the Christian fellowship in which we have been placed, even where there is no great experience, no discoverable riches, but much weakness, small faith, and difficulty; if on the contrary, we only keep complaining to God that everything is so paltry and petty, so far from what we expected, then we hinder God from letting our fellowship grow according to the measure and riches which are there for us all in Jesus Christ.

The church exists primarily for two closely correlated purposes: to worship God and to work for his kingdom in the world.. The church also exists for a third purpose, which serves the other two: to encourage one another, to build one another up in faith, to pray with and for one another, to learn from one another and teach one another, and to set one another examples to follow, challenges to take up, and urgent tasks to perform. This is all part of what is known loosely as fellowship.
