This film is going to touch your lives whether you want it to or not. And you're going to understand something that's going to tear you apart. This film is going to cause a lot of people to stand up and walk out again.

There's less of a community for film here. Artistically, this is not a strong community,.. It's easier to clear locations and people are more excited about being involved with a movie. You are more of a maverick, to quote Top Gun.

I'm sure everybody's glad it's the preseason. This is the time when you mess up, you go back and say, 'How do we correct this? Did we communicate? Did we miss an assignment?' So we go back in the film room, we correct it, and then we move on.

I believe the film triggered fond memories for many individuals who played the game in elementary school.

What the movie is most deeply about -- it's about our own latent possibilities of repression, stereotyping and prejudice,.. To see Americans rounded up in the streets, to see Americans put into stadiums, to see people held without habeas corpus -- to have their rights violated in such a way is such a chilling and just terrifying thing to see -- that is what one takes away, I believe, from this film.

Some of (the concerns) we were able to deal with -- having to do with sensitivities in the portrayal of Islam in the movie,.. But some of which asked us to change the premise of the film, which we were unwilling to do.

I grew up watching my grandmother sew things.... She never threw things out, she fixed them with a needle and thread. She and I weren't close, but now that I've reached adulthood and have a child of my own, I find myself doing the same things she used to do. This was fascinating for me and I guess it's part of why I decided to make this film.

Was made into an award-winning film, ''for her musical flow of voices and countervoices in novels and plays that with extraordinary linguistic zeal reveal the absurdity of society's cliches and their subjugating power.

Right now we're at war, and then you have Hurricane Katrina, where there are people on roofs screaming for help. I have this feeling that civilization could collapse, and that if you go overseas, you could get killed, that you could be in the middle of nowhere, and that someone could kill you and no one would find you. This film is also about the dark side of human nature. Everyone's life has a price. I want the audience to feel guilty. I want them to feel sick to their stomach, but by the end they're screaming for blood. Everyone has this evil within them.

Ready to film our every move. I had all the vans circle and block their view so they would not have a shot and the jerks moved further up the bridge to get a better look. Four of us held up body bags while four of us got the man in his bag without having it filmed for the world to see. I wanted to go up to them and ask if it would be okay if I came and filmed one of their loved ones being removed from their place of death and splash it all over the world. I have lost total respect for the mass mediia. A poor man being strapped to a pole and decomposing is not news. It is a tragic end to a life and must be respected. CNN bird-dogged us the rest of the afternoon. The Georgia State Patrol guys really wanted to peel off a couple rounds in their general direction - pretty bad considering CNN is headquartered in Atlanta.

It's a sweeping Western with tough cowboys, telling a time-tested love story that's simply about unrequited feelings. On the other hand, it shows two men having intercourse, which is a first for a mainstream Hollywood film. That's what has people talking.

I don't mean to sound grandiose, but there's something universal that you tap into with films like Feast of July and Schindler's List. You know they aren't make-believe. They illustrate something about life. This is my major concern whenever I select a film

My intention with 'Bobby' is not to make a political picture, although the 1968 California primary figures prominently in the story. The film is about being at critical mass -- critical mass in relationships or between race, and the hotel and the characters under its roof serve as a microcosm for what was happening in the country during that time. The entire country was experiencing critical mass. Culturally, we all unraveled after that tragic night on June 5. And now, 37 years later, our country has reached critical mass once again.

I am interested in recording an album because it would be an opportunity to express the feelings I have inside, not playing a character. I just think I have this thing inside me, this need to create and to express feelings whether that's in film, or in music which is an emotional expression as well.
