Al From is an American political activist, entrepreneur and strategist known primarily for leading the Democratic National Committee from 1985 to 2017. During his tenure, he was credited for reviving the party's fortunes by creating an effective infrastructure for fundraising, communications and voter mobilization. Additionally, he promoted a policy agenda that emphasizes fiscal responsibility and an affirmative role for government in creating jobs and opportunities for all Americans. He is considered one of the most influential leaders within the Democratic Party and founded the think tank, the Democratic Leadership Council, to advance the party’s agenda.
