Now we get to experience it.
Ryan O'Marra
It's a great feeling. We executed our game play perfectly and maintained our identity that we wanted to have the whole tournament.
game identity feeling play great
A perfect example was my penalty at the end of the game. Going into that hit, I knew I was most likely going to get a penalty, but I'm going to take that hit every day of the week. We want to put fear in the other opponent.
game fear perfect end day
You get an extra day of rest, more time to prepare against your opponent and obviously your opponent is going to be a lot more tired than you, so it's a pretty big deal.
time rest day tired big pretty
experience
Our physical play wore them down. Defensively, we didn't let them inside our house. I don't think you saw too many Finnish guys in the hash marks or below and if they did get there, they were punished.
play finnish guys inside physical house
Those are, I won't say selfish, but maybe lazy penalties. Those penalties usually come back to bite you.
lazy selfish
We re-established our identity. That's the identity we wanted to have going in, was to be a physical, tough-nosed team and a junkyard dog mentality.
identity team dog mentality physical
It's a short-tournament, so I think a lot of people read too much into one game. That U.S. Team is still a great team. They're going to be a tough competitor if we see them again.
people game team read great
The big part of the day was beating the U.S., so the whole New Year's thing was a little anticlimactic.
day big part thing
Steve's a warrior. I highly doubt he'll miss any practice time, let alone game time.
