We're keeping it to just one day because the quilts are so old and valuable. Some of the designs are really unusual.

We're very fortunate to have this exhibit. We're the only library in North County to have it.

It was so well-received, they decided to put it on tour, but only in San Diego. I was at a library meeting when they offered it, and I raised my hand immediately.

It was actually a little nicer than what you might think, but it was very small. Windows were blacked out with curtains so that no movement or light could be seen. They did have a radio but could only listen to it at night, and they listened to BBC, not German radio. They would talk about their dreams and what they would do when the war was over.
