Alan Jay Lerner
Alan Jay Lerner (1918-1986) was an American lyricist and librettist of musical theater. He was the lyricist of some of the greatest musicals, including My Fair Lady (1956) and Gigi (1958). Lerner, who collaborated with Frederick Loewe, wrote not only the music, but also the libretto for several highly acclaimed musicals. He also received a Tony Award for his work on the musical, Camelot (1960). Lerner was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971, and was awarded an honorary Oscar for his life’s work in 1985.
