Andrea Yates
Andrea Yates is an American woman who is currently serving a prison sentence for the drowning deaths of her five children in 2001. She claimed she suffered from postpartum psychosis which was caused by severe depression and delusions. She was convicted of two counts of murder in 2002 and sentenced to life in prison. In 2006, an appeals court overturned her conviction, and in a second trial she was found not guilty by reason of insanity. She is currently confined in a state mental hospital.
