We really take our music seriously and we take the band very seriously. But we have a lot of personality. So if we're going to write a song about kissing a girl, we're gonna write it. And people think we're a funny band, but we're just realistic, we put our personality into our lyrics.

We have a great relationship with our label. We do have the creative freedom. For She Falls Asleep (a track on Wonderland) they paid for a 60-piece symphony orchestra. There are no guitars and drums on it. I don't think there is any other pop act that has that kind of freedom, and that is what separates us from the others. We are a proper pop band, and it's all our work. We are not a brand created to sell to kids, which makes us different from some of the other s**t out there.

If I were George W. Bush, I would be terrorized by the eyes of those scruffy-looking veterans, the so-called band of brothers, volunteering for duty with the Kerry campaign. They look like men with scores to settle.

We received a donation to bring the band to Marietta and cover costs, and that's why we can offer tickets at such a reduced price.

[Writer Tom Piazza was born on Long Island but now calls New Orleans home.] New Orleans has a personality unlike any other city,.. It has its own architecture, its own vegetation, its own smells and cuisine, and, obviously, its own music--many types of its own music. It is relaxed, and a high percentage of the population knows the value of a good meal, a good laugh, some cold beer and crawfish, and a good band. These are highly conducive to the production of good fiction, too.

When I was 6 years old, I was in a rock band that was horrible called Dead End. The name kind of described us. People liked us; we would go and perform at coffee houses and stuff.

I've been preparing to be a drum major since I was a freshman. I always wanted to be more actively involved with the music and success of the band.

I think a lot of bands just, they sort of mark themselves as they can only go so far. They sort of screw themselves by setting the bar so low, that we can only go so far with music. Instead I feel like our band as people, our personalities, we kind of had the feeling we can do anything and go anywhere.

I was really trying to anchor down the band. We should explore this new song, but we've got to have a certain element that will have our old fans listening and enjoying it while gaining a whole bunch of new fans. I was definitely worried. But first and foremost we wanted to write songs that did inspire us. That was the most important part because we didn't want to write an album that we just hated before it even came out.

We were just sitting around the house after the bands broke up, and we just called each other up and said, 'Hey, let's start another band.' And that's how it all started. We've probably got members from at least three different bands.

We're a punk band, not so much from a sound perspective, but I still feel like we maintain a punk approach to what we do. But (punk) is not the most accepting community, it's really rather conservative. So we felt like we had to go against that.

We respect Band Aid's ability to raise so much money for relief efforts, but their lyrics seem so misguided and inappropriate. Africa isn't a land 'where nothing ever grows' and 'no rain nor river flows.' And how are lines such as 'Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you' supposed to be helpful?

If there's beer flying at us, it's all good, brother. We started playing tiny redneck bars up in northern Canada where there's tons of beer flying and wire cage protecting the band and all sorts of stuff. So we're down with the party.

It was originally billed as acoustic but I think we'll do it as a full band, with somebody playing an acoustic guitar.

I moved just to open a recording studio. The band thing came around because we basically had a need to do it. We record with a revolving door of musicians, and when we tour, we take whoever is available at the time.
